Energy Friendly

NAHB LogoResearch indicates that an uninsulated basement can account for over 33% of the total heat loss in your home. That's why our foundations feature a continuous layer of insulation bonded directly to the concrete, resulting in high energy efficiency to help reduce energy costs. We feature R-12.5 insulation in the Xi wall system and R-5 insulation in the R-5 wall system, while both systems feature stud facings ready for drywall finishing.

Reduces Energy Leakage

Building with Superior Walls insulated precast concrete wall panels provides your home with an excellent thermal envelope, minimizing the potential for energy leakage. The combination of pre-engineered built-in insulation and high strength concrete is a great foundation for energy conservation.

Lowers Energy Costs

Built-in insulation helps lower energy loss through the basement walls. The R-12.5 or R-5 insulation throughout the wall panels minimizes thermal transfer. The pre-studded wall panels include extra cavity space that makes it easy to add additional insulation to maximize R-value up to R-50+.

Saves Valuable Natural Resources

Since the foundation wall panels are engineered and manufactured with insulated concrete studs, Superior Walls reduces the amount of materials used to build your new home, including wood and concrete, and reduces the carbon footprint of your new home’s construction process!

Improves Indoor Air Quality

Superior Walls 5000 psi concrete, engineered with a lower water-to-cement ratio, ensures durability and helps prevent the transfer of moisture through the wall. A dry basement will limit the possibility of mold and other airborne fungus that can be found in traditional basements and affect air quality.

No On-site Soil Contamination

Your Superior Walls will be built in one of our indoor production facilities, eliminating any on-site soil contamination from such as the form oil used for poured walls. And because dampproofing is built into our walls (ESRs 1553 & 1662), no on-site sprays or bituminous coatings are required to make the walls dampproof.

Reduces Jobsite Waste

Our efficient, factory controlled production process ensures that your Superior Walls foundation arrives at your home site ready to install, producing virtually no on-site waste, with the least environmental site impact of any foundation system!

Energy Star

Energy Star LogoEnergy Star is an above code program that is sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Often included as part of a green building program, Energy Star is used to rate the efficiency of a one or two-family house or townhome. Energy Star labeled homes are estimated by some to be about 15% more efficient than homes built according to the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) or the International Residential Code (IRC) and they can be from 20 to 30% more energy efficient than standard homes. Homes built according to Energy Star guidelines must be verified by an independent Home Energy Rater to earn the Energy Star label.

Superior Walls can help you build an Energy Star qualified home. As a custom wall assembly, Superior Walls products contribute to the overall home insulation value and reduce air infiltration into the home, thereby making a huge impact on the overall energy efficiency rating of the home.

NGBS Green Certified Product

Superior Walls is a manufacturer of NGBS Green Certified products. Effective on February 12, 2013, Superior Walls Insulated Precast Concrete Wall products are pre-qualified to earn specific green points as Green Certified Products by Home Innovation Research Labs (formerly the NAHB Research Center). The products can earn points in categories for resource efficiency, energy efficiency and indoor environmental air quality.

This highly recognized certification program is offered by Home Innovation Research Labs. As shown in the table below, points can be awarded in several different categories called “practices” as outlined in the National Green Building Standard. The ICC 700-2008 National Green Building Standard was first published in January 29, 2009. You may purchase a copy at www.iccsafe.org. The Standard encompasses all types of residential construction, and remodeling of and additions to existing residential buildings.
